LAKES AND ROADS MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE REPORT---September and October, 2009

With the hot weather over the summer months, we restricted our activities only to the necessary. Now that cooler weather is finally with us, we will begin work on the "task list" that we have been developing over the summer.

Over the past two months, we have:

Continued our program of frequent spraying of all curbs and gutters to keep the weeds at bay. We extended our spraying program to include several neglected driveways of absent owners even though this is the responsibility of the owner, absent or not.

· Kept up our program of monitoring post lamps to keep our streets light and bright of once per month, and frequently more often.

· Attempted to locate "lost" survey markers which define the boundaries of our property. Some were too elusive to find, so we will likely have to hire a surveyor to assist us. These are being well marked so that, hopefully, we will not have this problem in the future.

· Continually adjusted timers on the lights at our entrance to keep up with the shortened days

· Worked with and solved several electrical problems at the front entrance.

· Installed locks on the tike hut refrigerator

· For whatever reason, over the past few weeks, we have had a lot of "roadkill" (cats, armadillos, turtles, rabbits and squirrels) on our streets which I have removed for disposal…..sometimes not a very appealing task!

· Replaced the guard rail at the golf course Windsong Rd. crossing which was removed in connection with the Lake G project.

We will soon begin focusing on these activities:

· The wall at the front entrance must be patched and repainted.

· Cracks in the exterior walls of the guardhouse must be repaired.

· Traffic and fire hydrant marking reflectors and yellow golf cart crossing markers in the streets need to be replaced, repainted, etc. However, some of this may be delayed pending the next item.

· We are beginning to see some minor holes and cracks in the streets. These must be repaired before they become serious. Then, it is time to be looking at sealcoating our streets (a major project and cost). This is a maintenance item that must be accomplished periodically to extend the life of the streets.

· The back gate will be repainted.

· It is time to give building (guardhouse, exercise room, etc.) roofs, and the pool deck a good and thorough cleaning.

· This month we will have our first meeting of a reorganized committee, made up of old members as well as a number of new volunteers.

· And, the list continues to grow.  I invite everyone to contact me if you see maintenance concerns.....and if you would like to serve on a fun committee.

Respectfully submitted,

Bill Murphy, Chairman
