ACCESS CONTROL ANNUAL REPORT – MARCH 2010
First of all, I would like to thank the people on our Committee who attended various meetings throughout the year. Those members are BJ Locke, Claude Crass, Randy Doi, Mike Williamson, and especially Chuck Marklin. Director for this Committee was Nick Cole who contributed his leadership throughout the year.
Our main accomplishment was to install a new bar code entry system for all our residents and as of this date, we have installed 625 units, of that number, 225 were installed in my driveway by Linda or myself. I would like to add that the new bar code system is working extremely well on all types of vehicles, including motorcycles. After the bar code system was in place and operating well, we have installed a series of surveillance cameras. The four cameras are recording images of the driver, their license plate number, an overall view of the entrance way and an overall view of the front exit.
Additionally, we closed the back entrance gate for incoming traffic which has solved the problem of automobiles/vendor trucks piggybacking into the community.
I would like to thank Sunstate Gate and Door for being extremely prompt when we have had minor problems with our front gates. Fred Eyrich and Chuck Marklin have helped me numerous times in replacing failed bolts on the gate arms which has saved the community expenses for service calls to the vendor.
I would like to commend our Guards and compliment them on their continual good work throughout the year. They are truly a self managing group under the direction of Captain, Ed O’Donnell.
In closing, I feel our emphasis should focus on getting our residents to adhere to the 19mph speed limit and to observe all stop signs. I have been repeating these thoughts throughout the six years I have been head of this Committee as I continually worry about our residents’ safety on the roads.

Committee Chair
