Hand-Hole Inspections
A couple of years ago FPL inspected some electrical connections located in hand-holes in the city of Punta Gorda. They were requested to do this by the city after a house in PGI burned down and a link was established between a defective connection in the hand-hole and the house. They found 10% of the inspected connections required repairs. This year, FPL again inspected some electrical connections in hand-holes in the city including Seminole Lakes. Because these inspections found enough connections that required repairs, FPL has hired Pike Electric to inspect 100 % of the hand holes and perform any required repairs. Each home in Seminole Lakes does not have a hand- hole as each serves a number of homes. You will be seeing Pike Electric in Seminole Lakes in a few weeks, and they will contact residents when they do the testing. There will be a short interruption of electrical power to that home.
Looking ahead to our January 11, 2010 board meeting, both Sheriff Bill Cameron and City Manager, Howard Kunik, have agreed to attend. Bill Cameron will be updating us on some changes in the Sheriff’s Dept. Howard Kunik will present his annual presentation on activates completed and planned in the city. They both attended last January’s board meeting, and their presentation was well received by those in attendance.
Thank You,
Bob Toth
