PRESIDENT’S REPORT BOARD MEETING
May 14, 2007
SweetBay Plaza Expansion
Last month there were a few questions on what was being built at the SweetBay Plaza. They are building a 9000 sq foot building on the lot near Acline Road. At this time the space has not been leased to any tenants. We are keeping abreast of developments to ensure that whenever stores are leased, they will be per the zoning requirements.
Speed Limits To Be Lowered On Route 41
Through the efforts of the City, County and the Boards from Seminole Lakes and Burnt Store Meadows; the FDOT has agreed to lower the speed limits. A number of meetings were held with the City, County and the FDOT expressing safety concerns with the high speed limits.
The area on Hwy 41 that affects us from Tuckers Grade to the Seminole Lakes front entrance has been lowered to from 65 mph to 60 mph. The area from Seminole Lakes Blvd to Rio Villa Drive will be lowered from 55 mph to 50 mph. The FDOT has requested that our residents obey these new speed limits.
NEW FIREHOUSE ON ACLINE ROAD
The city has issued a design contract to Taylor-Matthews to design the new fire station on Acline Road. They will also provide costs to build the station. At that time, the City will decide on either accepting that bid or seeking competitive bids from other firms. Depending on that decision, a schedule will then be issued.
Burnt Store Road Expansion
Design drawings are still not complete for the road or sound abatement wall. There is no guarantee that this wall will be built as the County will do a cost/benefits study. The only definite thing we know is that the two additional lanes will be built on the East side of the road which is our side.
We are staying in touch with the County as plans develop.
The Seminole Lakes POA Board continues to be active with the City and County governments to ensure we keep current on developments that may affect us. Both the City and County supported us on reducing the speed limit on Hwy 41, and also support us on the sound barrier wall.
Thank You,
Bob Toth
