MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE REPORT
April 10, 2006
Members of the maintenance committee checked and cleaned around the survey markers. There are several markers that we could not locate. We know the general location where they are. Bob Toth has a metal detector that can assist us in locating them.
Bob Hess & I surveyed all the stop signs, street signs and speed limit signs. They all need to be cleaned, most need to be painted and some need to be repaired or replaced. Bob Hess & John Carpenter are in the process of doing this. If you see any signs sitting on the ground it is because work is being done on it.
Ray Negrycz, Gordon Gade, Bob Toth, Fred Thomasson and myself repaired most of the damage to our roads caused by contractors. Also the storage area near the front gate was cleaned out by the same crew. Max Puckett cleaned up an area along the Acline Rd. wall.
I replaced the burnt out low voltage light bulbs that light our sign at front entrance, a 2 hour job. These bulbs cost $6.00 + tax each.
Some of our boundary walls need to be repaired and painted. The front sign wall needs to be repaired, the letters need to be repaired some are broken from Charley. Joe Ring and Rich Hasenzahl are looking into what has to be done. Joe, Rich and Rudy Bruno fixed the doors in the guardhouse.
Gene Anderson still picks up cigarette butts and trash along our roads and also sprays weeds that grow in the cracks along side of our roads.
All of these jobs done by volunteers from our community save all of us money, Let's give a round of applause to all our volunteers.
On Tuesday, March 7th someone did not stop at the resident entrance gate and bent the arm. The incident was entered in the guard house journal, name and address of the resident that did it. Wednesday morning, Lou the guard and I repaired the arm by cutting off about 3.5 ft. of the arm. We then re-attached the arm. There is a sign that says, "Stop one car at a time". Please stop and wait for the arm to go up. I suggest that if someone hits and damages the arm, they should be held responsible.
Presently there are at least 14 -16 lamppost lights that are not working. I have a suggestion of how to let resident know that there light is out. Place a red tag on the lamppost explaining their lamppost is not working. I would like to present this idea for approval by the board.
There are more jobs that need to be done to help beautify our community and they are:
Clean up area near broken fence and repair the fence near 12th tee. Fill in side of road near Acline Rd. entrance. Install barbed wire at end of Acline Rd. wall
Fill in spaces under wall along Burnt Store Rd.
There are many mailboxes that are in need of cleaning, painting or repair.
If you need parts for your mailbox such as flag, clasps or door handle contact me, I have spare parts at no cost. If you need to replace the wooden arms on the mailbox post call me for a price. I replace the wood with a plastic assembly that will not rot like the wood does.
I
will be leaving mid May and Joe Ring has agreed to chair the maintenance committee till I return in October.Submitted by:
