Maintenance Committee Report

Members of the maintenance committee extend a Healthy and Happy New Year to all our members.

Now that the holidays are behind us and in the next couple of days we will be taking down our holiday lights and decorations, it is a good idea to remove the adapter that many have used in their lamp posts so that they could connect decorations. These adapters are not for exterior use and can cause damage to your lamppost light bulb socket. Please remove the red and green light bulbs and replace them with a long life exterior bulb. While replacing the light bulb clean the glass and remove accumulated collection of bugs in the base of the light fixture.

The maintenance committee has started repairs to the wall behind houses on Feathersound. Greenscapes has trimmed some of the bushes so that we can power wash and paint the wall. I suggest that the wall be power washed to remove mold & mildew accumulated on the walls. We can rent a gasoline powered power washer from Home Depot for about $80 a day. We will need a water supply for the power washer. I suggest that we canvas residents along Feathersound for use of water for this project. After the wall is clean I suggest that we rent a gasoline powered paint sprayer to paint the wall. Cost $100. The wall is 1450 Ft. long by approx. 6ft. high. With a coverage rate of approx. 250 sq. ft. per gallon, we will need approx. 7 – 5 gallon cans of Masonry / Stucco Paint that is a self – priming acrylic latex at a cost of $85.00 for 5 gallons.

The paint job entire job will cost approx $1000 I am asking the Board to approve this expenditure. We plan to do this job as soon as Greenscapes trims the trees and bushes that are hanging over the wall from Burnt Store Rd.
