     SELECTED AS MVP NOVEMBER 2007

"Wayne & Barb Karlak have done an outstanding job in serving the community. Wayne is head of the Activities Committee and Barb is his assistant to ensure all the planned activities run smoothly. It has been a pleasure to see our residents attending and supporting the planned functions. These functions have included Oktoberfest at the pool, the Welcome Back and Halloween Costume party at the pool, numerous golf scrambles, Wednesday night bingo, and gatherings at the pool. They also have planned the upcoming Turkey races at the clubhouse, Holiday dinner dance at the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club and other future adventures. They have spent many hours planning the work and working hard at each event. We also thank the Activity Committee members for their support."

     FRED THOMASSON

    MVP OCTOBER 2007

"Fred is a valuable member on the Maintenance Committee and Pool Committee. He assisted in providing drawings for the Pool committee. Fred also assisted on the Lake A repair project by providing a list of the owners of Lake A so they could be communicated with. Fred assisted preparing for the pool complex by helping with the cleaning. He has also provided signage for the pool area."

"Fred has helped out on the Maintenance Committee, Pool Committee, and Survey Committee. He always wants to help. Even though he is ‘ole Fred, he does a wonderful job. He has helped out in cleaning the pool area, he checks out the restrooms every day to see if they are open in the morning and locked at night"

BOB HESS  - MVP SEPTEMBER 2007

"Bob has been a member of the Maintenance Committee for many years and has contributed his advice and help in many projects over the years. To list a few he helped with: placing plastic protectors at the base of street sign posts, assisting during road repaving operations, and helping Jack Carpenter with painting all the street signs throughout our community. It is people like Bob that should be recognized for their silent contributions to our community".

GAYLE & LINDA MORRIS SELECTED FOR MVP – JUNE 2007

"Gayle is a neighbor who is always ready to serve! We have been blessed to watch Gayle on a daily basis. He is knowledgeable and willing to help anyone that is in need. Example: our lamp post fell over from the wind. Next day, Gayle is offering his helping hand. Mixing and pouring concrete, cutting boards, patching the holes and on and on. It doesn’t matter who, what, why or where, Gayle is always ready to serve. On a larger basis, he is serving our whole community by participating in Christmas decorations, setting up tents for the Arts and many other activities not listed. He always has a smile and kind word for everyone."

"Gayle and Linda go the "second mile" in helping with our creative Arts events. They create the publicity, the "Burma shave" type signs to remind residents, they’ve created the design for our official stationery and do a yeoman’s job in setting up and transporting."

"Gayle and Linda’s efforts in organizing the SLCC Relay for Life brings prestige and honor to our community. They and the team members have earned thousands of dollars for the AMR Cancer Society and this year have won 3rd place with their silent film tent display."

"Linda Morris was instrumental in the design and installation of the Holiday Decorations at our front entrance. Although she was assisted by the Creative Arts Committee, it was her planning that made the project possible. The design of the decorations has never been better and she deserves resident recognition for her efforts"

                     JOE GARTNER WINS MVP MAY 2007

"Joe is a member of the maintenance committee but has stepped forward to handle the red tag program.  Each week, early in the morning, Joe inspects all streets and records which lamps are not working.  He then tags the post with a red tag.  This program has saved the POA money as violation letters do not have to be written.  Residents are appreciative of this type of notice.  In some cases, Joe Gartner replaced a few lamps when those residents were away and could not be reached."

"Joe, each week, will check all of the lamp post lights and tags those that are not working.  By doing this, residents are made aware that their lamp is not working and take steps to resolve the problem.  Joe also is in the Maintenance and Lakes & Roads Committees and has contributed time and expertise to assist in completing numerous projects, thus saving the Association many dollars."

GALEN PRICE

MVP FOR APRIL 2007

"For all of his efforts in guiding the Pool Committee for the past six months.  He managed operations on a daily basis for all residents and our families and guests.  The parties and weekly mixers helped foster renewed community spirit.  His meticulous record keeping guided the POA Board in their decision to continue this activity.  In addition, for his perseverance in dealing with the various players, we feel Galen and Sharon should be treated to a day in Disney World."

"Galen Price because all his work on the pool.  He went way beyond what was required and provided useful and valuable information for the current and future".

"Galen Price, at the request of the POA Board, formed a pool committee on short notice.  Galen and the committee issued "Pool Rules" which have been well accepted by the residents.  Galen and the committee did investigations on how other community pools were heated, cost to operate and attendance.  He has continued to monitor the pool complex almost on a daily basis and recently submitted a detailed report to the Board".

BOB TOTH - HONORABLE MENTION FOR APRIL:

"Has anyone noticed the man walking, riding his bike or looking for a new weed to sprout?  Bob is always ready to pounce on and destroy any unwanted foilage.  Bob is the man always ready to volunteer to attend meetings that are beneficial to SLCC.  Besides our small enclave, he also is dedicated to helping our local Police Department, City of Punta Gorda, and County Government.  After all of his years of being on and leading our POA, I know he will continue to help in any matters where he is needed.   Now that's dedication that needs recognition!!!! "

"About 2 years ago, Linda Mack stepped forward as our Grapevine Editor. Her efforts have produced a very informative, unbiased, and entertaining newsletter. We can always count on receiving the newsletter timely because she serves as the team leader of a very dedicated staff of Seminole Lakes residents. Thanks, Linda, for a great job."

"Linda Mack deserves MVP because she has done a great job as editor of the Grapevine. She has worked very hard to ensure a high quality newsletter is published. The position requires a lot of good judgment and a balanced outlook to ensure the quality of the newsletter remains high. She has been editor for over 2 years and deserves this recognition."

"Linda Mack, for her devotion to ensure as editor of the Grapevine, a high quality product is issued each month. This position is very time demanding and she spends a lot of time ensuring the newsletter is issued on time and fits the interests of our residents."

FRANK GLINDMEIER SURPRISED AND

SPEECHLESS AS MVP – JANUARY 2007

Frank was nominated because he organized and initiated the wall alongside golf Fairway (16th) which provided improved security for Seminole Lakes. In addition, this wall has improved the view and reduced the noise level of Burnt Store Road for all of the Houses facing this area.

Frank has been very helpful to this board in providing insight on land use regulations, Covenants and Florida Statues . He was especially helpful in assisting to write the legal property description for the pool.

MOST VALUABLE PERSON

Her nominations:  "She has dedicated many many hours trying to arrange for our residents' parties.  She spends hours on the telephone in meetings and in driving location to location lining up suitable facilities for our events.  She is always on the job!  I am grateful for her dedication."

"She deserves some recognition for the years and years of party planning.  Her
desire to keep people together in our community is important to each one of us.  Her motto is "Stay Happy"."

"I am nominating her because of all the many hours and numerous meetings trying to find social events pleasing to all our residents.  Her goal is to maintain camaraderie with all residents on a year round basis.  Her work should be rewarded by an acknowledgement from our Grapevine."

PAT HART IS SELECTED MVP

FOR NOVEMBER

"Pat has provided dedicated leadership as Chair of the Landscape Committee for 4 years. Through her efforts, landscaping of the common areas has added to the beauty of Seminole lakes. Pat also does the lawn inspections with Greenscapes to ensure work is being performed as per our Contract. Pat also is the "lawn police" which again helps keep Seminole Lakes beautiful"

"Pat is being nominated because of her tireless efforts to make Seminole Lakes a more beautiful place to live. She has picked out the plants, transported them in her own vehicle to the front gate, and co-ordinated the volunteers to assist in planting at the front and back gates. Because of her efforts, both entrances to our community are beautifully landscaped."

"We nominate Pat Hart, Chairperson of the Landscape Committee…..Pat has served as Chair of this Committee for over four years. She has spent hundreds of hours applying her extensive knowledge of plants to improve and maintain the common grounds landscaping of Seminole Lakes. Pat and her crew can frequently be seen in the early morning hours at the front and back entrances digging and planting. Through Pat’s leadership and hard work, the POA has saved thousands of landscape dollars and created additional beauty in Seminole Lakes."

"Pat heads up the Landscape committee which has done a wonderful job in the past 4 years to make Seminole Lakes look great. She and her committee also have done regular inspections to remove dead trees from common ground. Pat deserves to be recognized for her faithful and hard work."

JUNE TOTH WINS MVP  FOR OCTOBER

"June has been the chairperson of the telephone directory and election committee for 3 years. Her leadership has assured the POA conducted efficient and honest elections. Her dedication has kept the telephone directly current. She also keeps the Seminole Lakes emails current and sends that information to Star Management."

"I nominate June Toth for her long and hard work in being the Chair for the Telephone Directory and Elections Committee. She also keeps the email system current with additions and changes. Through her efforts the POA had a successful election for directors last March. She also personally took on the responsibility for distribution of the phone directory. She has been doing this work for over 3 years and deserves some recognition."

"June, as Chair of the Elections and Telephone Directory Committee, has done an outstanding job. I serve on the elections committee and her leadership deserves special recognition."

"She donates her time in running the woman’s water exercise classes three times a week. In addition, she takes care of the Telephone Directory, Election Committee and email list"

GENE ANDERSON

  MVP SEPTEMBER

"Gene Anderson was nominated because of the work he does around the Seminole Lakes community. For years, he has picked up cigarette butts from our streets. He also sprays weed killer along our road edges keeping our roads looking good. His long term efforts at weed control for the entire community should be recognized."

You can find Gene on the streets in his golf cart on Wednesday because that is bridge day for his wife, Edith. It takes him about 4 hours to go around the entire neighborhood spraying weed killer and picking up cigarette butts on the street. Gene said this time of year, he will find about 25 cigarette butts to pick up but when the "snow birds" return; that number will go up to over 200 a week.

The next time you see this gentleman, why not take a minute to personally thank him, he enjoys talking to the residents on his rounds.

Gene, the Seminole Lakes POA Board thank you and hope you will enjoy your $50 gift certificate at The River City Grill.

 JOE HAD 4 NOMINATIONS FOR MVP -  AUGUST                                                  

 #1 Joe Ring has made significant contribution as Chairperson of the Lakes & Roads and temporary chairperson of the Maintenance Committee.  He has saved the POA a lot of money by replacing an irrigation pump and timer at the Acline Road entrance.  He and another committee member have started repairs to the Burnt Store boundary wall.  He also has learned the operation of the front entrance street light timers and controllers and therefore, can provide assistance in their operation. 

#2 In the past few months, Joe has completed a number of projects and assisted on others.  He assisted in patching the holes in the roads, including using a blow torch to remove high spots in the roads caused by trucks.  He and other repaired the guard house doors, moved the light from the guardhouse to another location to provide improved lighting at the entrance.  He assisted on the headwall repairs on Lake A, by assisting in guiding heavy equipment around the lake and answering numerous resident questions.  His initiative in performing the work was outstanding!!! 

#3 Joe is a member of the maintenance committee and now heads up the Lakes & Roads committee.  He also heads up the maintenance committee during the summer months.  During the recent headwall repairs, Joe was there for the 3 day period of work and assisted the contractor in developing the proper route for their heavy equipment to minimize damage to resident’s property and the common ground.  He also answered numerous resident questions.  Hoe has replaced two large common area sprinkler pumps.  He purchased the pumps and installed them with another committee members’ assistance.  Joe also contributed to the recent roads repairs conducted by the Lakes & Road committee.  He purchased a blow torch apparatus allowing the committee to heat and repair numerous damaged areas in the road which was caused during debris pickup after Hurricane Charley.  Joe also rewired the receptacles at the front entrance to ensure that the Christmas lights had nearby receptacles to plug in.  Joe performs all these volunteer projects with a spirited by low key effort.  Seminole Lakes is fortunate to have Joe Ring as a resident and volunteer on two committees. 

#4 Joe, as Chair of the Lakes & Road Committee and temporary Chair of the Maintenance Committee has done a great job in completing repairs to the Burnt Store boundary wall and repairs to the roads.  Joe has also secured bids on sealing the cul-de-sacs and has contacted a number of new companies that were not known to the POA.

                        MVP – JULY  FRED EYRICH

FRED WAS NOMINATED BECAUSE HE CONTRIBUTES IMMEASURABLY WITH HIS TIME AND EFFORT TO MAKE CONTINUED IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SEMINOLE LAKES COMMUNITY. HIS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE IS INVALUABLE TO OUR COMMUNITY AND WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE RESIDENTS SUCH AS FRED WHO ARE DEDICATED AND SO WILLING TO WORK HARD FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

MVP AWARD FOR JUNE – CONNIE SWETT                 

Connie Swett was nominated because she is such a giving person, always thinking of others – how to honor them, bless them, pray for them and "do" for them. She gives her time, her energy, and her talents to all she comes in contact with. She finds time to really listen, really feel, really pray for God’s Grace to touch us all, our "circle", our community and our world.

You might see him trimming bushes, working on our streets, making repairs, spraying weeks and most anything that needs to be done. On top of that, he takes time to work on the P.O.A. Board.

Jack Carpenter wins MVP (MOST VALUABLE PERSON)
          MAY Award

Jack had four nominations:  “He has almost single handedly renovated most of the complex’s stop signs, speed signs, street signs, etc. which is a time consuming job repairing Hurricane Charley damage.  His work is worthy of special recognition”.  “I think Jack has performed a beautiful job.  He did a lot with broken signs by repairing them and hand painting them.  He put in a lot of time and did the work by himself”.  “Recognize Jack for his volunteer efforts of painting traffic sign posts, repair/rebuilding and replacing stop signs….all without calling attention to himself for doing so.”  “Jack has worked for 6 weeks to refurbish all the stop signs and posts in Seminole Lakes.  His professional work has made the signs “like new”.  The signs are made out of cedar and require skillful work to refurbish them.  His work on this project has saved the POA hundreds of dollars and keeps our community looking good.  His initiative in performing the work was outstanding”
