Landscape Committee Report for May 2006 Meeting

The Landscape Committee member along with a Convents member, representatives of Star Management and GreenScapes drive through the community on the third Wednesday of each month. The main concerns are weeds in the flower beds, dead or brown spots in the lawns. This time of year we find more brown spots due to misplaced irrigation (areas not being watered properly) or carpet grass creeping into the lawns.. We are beginning to see more carpet grass in the lawns. Carpet grass will spread very fast during the summer months if not killed off now. The homeowner is responsible for removing any Carpet Grass from their lawns. I t can only be killed by spraying the area with Round UP and then re-sod. Those homes with tree or bush stumps in their lawns need to have them ground out. Another area is the curbing rings with nothing replanted. Remember each home is required to have TWO native trees.

The Landscape Committee members have been busy at the front entrance planting new plants to fill in the empty spaces left by "Charlie". We have one or two more times needed to complete the work the members are performing. GreenScapes will be planting the three palm trees by next week and then they will start putting the mulch down.

We worked with Dick Swett and some of his neighbors who cleaned the debris from the Lift Station on Arrowhead and then planted the plants on a Tuesday Evening. This area now shows a great improvement and I thank the homeowners who gave their time to the improvement of our community.

We will be meeting with GreenScapes to discuss the new watering restrictions and how it will affect our lawns. Anyone who is taking care of their neighbor’s homes while they are gone for the summer needs to make sure they are watering on the proper day. Addressing ending with EVEN numbers to water on TUESDAYS, addresses ending in ODD, numbers to water on SUNDAYS. NO WATERING BETWEEN 10:00 AM and 4:00 P.M. . We are under the Punta Gorda regulations.

We have had some homeowners request some training session On How to Correct and Repair Sprinklers and operation of timing box. If anyone is interested, please call Pat Hart @ 575-1432.
