SEMINOLE LAKES PROPERTY OWNER’S ASSOCIATION
LAKES AND ROADS MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE REPORT
MONTH OF APRIL 2009
In early April, I assumed responsibility for the Lakes and Roads Maintenance Committee as Fred Eyrich became a member of the POA Board of Directors. Since that time, my efforts have been directed to gaining knowledge of the functions and responsibilities of the committee, and surveying the community to determine maintenance and upkeep needs. No committee meeting has been held, as many of the existing committee members are gone for the season and others have dropped off the committee.
In addition to the above, April activities included:
Jack Carpenter has continued his "artistry" in repainting signs.
Weeds have been sprayed twice in the cracks along all curbs and gutters.
We have continued to search for several "lost" boundary survey markers. Next step will be to continue the search using a metal detector.
The large unsightly rust stain was removed (well, almost) from the street by the entry gate.
Spot cleaning was accomplished on several dirty and moldy sign posts.
A survey was completed of missing and broken street reflectors which mark the location of fire hydrants and front entrance lane dividers. Replacements will be installed this summer.
Although much of the work was accomplished before I assumed responsibility for this committee, I have worked with Bob Toth with plans for the much needed repair to Lake G. Due to the lack of work currently experienced by the local construction companies, an excellent price, considerably lower than similar work in previous years, was quoted. This work is sorely needed to prevent additional erosion loss, and should be done as soon as possible. If there would happen to be a significant storm this summer, we will not only see additional erosion, but will also likely see significantly higher costs as local contractors suddenly become busy.
I will be out of the area for the next several weeks, but when I return in late June, I will be working to re-formulate the committee. I will be asking for volunteers to serve on the committee, and others who can be called upon to assist with projects in the future. I would ask anyone interested to either call me (leave a message) or email me and I will contact you upon my return.
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Murphy
