Lakes & Roads Committee Report January 8, 2007
Four years ago the POA hired an engineering company to inspect our roads, street drains and street lighting. Their report stated that improved lighting was required at the intersection of Feathersound drive and Seminole Lakes Blvd. A number of residents thru the years have complained about this intersection being dark and unsafe.
Numerous studies have been conducted to improve the lighting and it was determined by the committee and Doyle that the best method to improve the lighting was to install one street light on one corner.
Two bids have been received. Doyle Electric quoted $3135 in 2005 and Bruce Ladd quoted $3235 a last month.Doyle Electric is no longer interested in doing the project as they would have problems procuring one pole and light.
The scope of work is to install a direct burial fiberglass pole 19 feet high with a 250 watt overhead fixture. The fixture is designed to be used where tight light control is required to prevent glare. A 150 ft hand dug trench from the nearest transformer would provide the power. Coordination with FL& P would be required and we would receive a monthly flat rate invoice as there would not be any meter.
Bob Toth spoke to the owners of the homes on the four corners and they were assured that light glare in their windows would not happen.
We are requesting the board to approve this project at a cost not to exceed $3500. Although the bid price is $3135 some contingency is required in case of underground obstructions which may require additional trenching.
It will take eight weeks to complete the project mainly because of the delivery for the pole and fixture and coordination with FP& L.
