CERT REPORT for POA Meeting

5-8-06

I am compiling the results of the Emergency Response Survey and establishing a priority listing for responses after a declared emergency disaster by the Charlotte County Emergency Management Director. I am very satisfied with the results. There were 384 responses out of 450 residences. Of the remainder, there were no responses from 21 due to those homes being for sale and vacant. That leaves 45 residents who did not respond.

The Team’s response will be divided into 2 phases based on priority. The number 1 priority will be those residents who indicated they are non-ambulatory due to their use of a wheelchair, walker, cane, are taking oxygen, or who have Parkinson’s, Dementia, are sight restricted, or experience extreme hearing problems. Also included will be those residents where children under the age of 6 reside. The other priority will be the remainder of residents who are expected to be here during hurricane season.

To facilitate our response, I am asking the Board’s permission to place a piece of red tape (for priority 1) and a piece of yellow tape (for others) on the light pole located in front of each house. (Present picture to Board for explanation). I plan to place these markers after June 1 and will remove them after the hurricane season.

As a reminder, all residents should take advantage of the opportunity to purchase your hurricane supplies during the tax-free holiday from May 21 through June 1.

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your assistance in this program.
