CERT REPORT for POA Meeting

5-11-09

On Mar. 28, CERT participated in a simulated disaster drill administered by the Charlotte County Emergency Operations Center (CCEOC). The exercise was to test the ham radio system operations during an emergency situation. In this case, the subject was a tornado that was traveling in a north easterly direction from Gulf Cove throughout the county. SLCC CERT also took this instance to test our individual communication system which consists of the 2-way radios that each member is equipped with. Both systems worked well.

This was the subject of discussion at our April meeting. We are now in the process of upgrading our Incident Response Forms we use for this hurricane season. Our May meeting was devoted for this purpose. During this month, CERT members will be interviewing residents in their response areas to verify the information on these forms. Then the red and yellow tapes currently on your lamp posts will be replaced as necessary. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
