Activity Committee 2007 – 2008 Report
The Activity year started off with two of the major horse races at the clubhouse, the Preakness and the Belmont. We then had a Dad’s Day scramble followed by dinner at Benedetto’s. We had a Hurricane ‘Charlie’ anniversary party at the pool, followed by a Labor Day party at the pool. We had a second scramble followed again by dinner at Benedetto’s.
The fall season began with a Beer and Brats party, followed by a very successful Halloween party. We did encounter one problem, with the rain out of the Pops Concert.
We had Turkey races at the clubhouse that produced a lot of laughs and frozen turkeys to the lucky winners. We had a third scramble followed by dinner at Sam Seltzer’s. We had Cart caroling, where we sang to several shut-ins who really enjoyed the songs and the friendship generated by the carolers.
We had a successful and very well attended Christmas Dance at the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. On New Years’ day we had a large crowd who enjoyed the Bloody Marys and Sloppy Joes. Our ladies enjoyed the Fashion Show at Visani’s. The Valentine dance was a great success, dinner and dancing at the clubhouse.
We are closing off the year with another scramble, followed by Hot dogs at the pool, a St. Pat’s dinner on March 17th, a Wine Tasting party on April 10th, a sunset cruise on April 28th and a possible Cico-de-Mayo party on May 5th.
