ACCESS CONTROL REPORT APRIL 2006

On March 20th the Access Control Committee had its first meeting with eight (8) members in attendance.

The following issues were discussed: transponders versus clickers, reinstalling the back gate reader, how to slow down speeders, how to enforce cars rolling through our stop signs, and the possible use of speed bumps. The Committee agreed to get input from the residents and a questionnaire was put in the April Grapevine. Results will be published in the May Grapevine and on the Web Page.

The Committee is recommending that Supervisor, Captain Ed O’Donnell receive an hourly increase of 50 cents per hour and his guards 25 cents per hour, effective May 1st. They did not receive an increase last year and this is about a 3% increase. There is money in the line item budget for guard services to cover the increase. We will also be purchasing new white uniforms.

Any resident who obtains a Clicker or transponder will be required to fill out a form which will be given to them at the time of purchase.

Please respect our notice in the Guard House regarding authorized personnel only; guards cannot be visiting with residents and working at the same time.

I would remind all walkers to walk against the traffic; there are some that feel the roadways are for automobiles only.

Fencing will be reestablished in areas destroyed by Charley. This will be done by the Maintenance and Access committee members and any other residents who would like to donate a little time will do this.

In the past few weeks we’ve had some young people driving golf carts out the front gate and coming in the back gate. We’d like to remind the parents or grandparent’s golf carts are not permitted on public highways.

It has been reported that an iguana has been sited on one of our lakes but I rather doubt we’ll have a Boca Grand problem. Oh yes if you see a turtle in the middle of the road, please see it gets to the other side.

Thank you for observing 19mph speed limits to ensure resident safety.
