ACCESS CONTROL/NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
The Access Control/Neighborhood Watch Committee is the liaison between the
Access Control staff and the POA Board and residents. This committee works
closely with the Access Control staff and handles issues that cannot be
effectively dealt with by this staff, given their general inability to leave the
guard house. While not serving a purely "security" function, this committee is
instrumental in insuring proper control and recordkeeping of persons entering
the community, and giving residents, to the extent practical, as sense of
"well-being and comfort" knowing that someone is looking out for them. Under
leadership of the Chairperson, this committee:
- Monitors security issues and promptly acts on them
- Gives direction and leadership to the Access Control staff
- Insures proper operation of the gate access and egress systems
- Distributes entry bar codes to residents and maintains the data base
- Monitors and insures correct operation of the surveillance camera system
- Orders uniforms and supplies as needed for the Access Control staff and
neighborhood watch volunteers
- Is the primary contact for issues brought to the attention of the Access
Control staff, promptly acting on them to resolve in the most orderly and
practical manner
- Serves as the "eyes and ears" for the board and residents regarding
traffic and safety issues, security concerns, and any other issue which is
unable to be resolved by Access Control staff, given their inability to
leave the guard house
- Provides leadership to the neighborhood watch/patrol function, and
assists the Oversight Director in screening and assisting volunteers
- Maintains a log of neighborhood watch patrols and any concerns
encountered
The Committee will meet as needed to discuss any resident issues and make
recommendations to the Board.
